The Vivo X Fold 2 was recently unveiled in China as the brands third foldable smartphone following the Vivo X Fold and Vivo X Fold+. But it isn’t just Vivo, the Tecno Phantom V Fold arrived in India last week.
And brands like Huawei, Honor, Oppo, Motorola, and Xiaomi has all revealed foldable smartphones of their own in the past year to rival Samsung’s dominance of the foldable phone market. So we’ve decided to list some of the best foldable phones 2023.

Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 4 | The Galaxy Z Fold 4 is well over six months old, but it still reigns top dog in the foldable smartphone segment. Not only is the Galaxy Z Fold 4 the most accessible foldable phone on our list but it is the most refined yet and is easily the furthest you can go with the foldable form factor. It is also the most adept at blurring the lines between flagship and foldable. However, the one caveat here is that all this refinement comes at a pretty hefty price.
Tenco Phantom V Fold | If the Galaxy Z Fold 4 is the most expensive, then the Phantom V Fold is the most affordable foldable phone on our list. For a first-generation foldable smartphone that costs as much as a flip phone, the Phantom V Fold is rather impressive. The Phantom V Fold also does a better job than Samsung at dealing with the crease. The Phantom V Fold is an excellent foldable smartphone, especially considering its price, and goes a long way towards making the foldable form factor more accessible.
Vivo X Fold 2 | The Vivo X Fold 2 arrives with a flagship specs sheet on both the display, camera, and performance fronts. Additionally, the X Fold 2’s new hinge design is rated for 400,000 folds, which is among the highest among foldable phones. The X Fold 2 also features ZEISS T* lens coating and optics co-engineered with ZEISS. The company is yet to confirm the Vivo X Fold 2 India and global availability.
Oppo Find N2 | Unlike other foldable smartphones on our list, the Oppo Find N2 is more on the smaller side, measuring just 7.1 inches when unfolded. Additionally, the Find N2 is also one of the few smartphones on this list that offers stylus support. Additionally, the Find N2 brings flagship specifications, solid Gorilla Glass Victus protection, and a triple-camera setup fine tuned in collaboration with Hasselblad.
Motorola Razr 2022 | The Moto Razr makes an appearance as the first clamshell folding smartphone on our list. After a couple of attempts with mid-range chipsets, Motorola finally gave its Razr folding smartphone the flagship treatment it deserved last year. Not only that but the Lenovo-owned brand also increased the size of the cover display and updated its capabilities. Motorola was the first brand to reinvent the flip form factor for smartphones with the original Moto Razr in 2019. And after years of trial and error, the company finally got it right with the Razr 2022.
Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 4 | As amazing as the Moto Razr 2022 was, the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 4 was simply better. Despite a smaller cover screen compared to its competitors, the Z Flip 4 takes the top spot among flip smartphones, primarily because of its accessibility. But accessibility aside, Samsung still offers a flagship smartphone experience, water resistance included, with the Galaxy Z Flip 4. If you prefer the ‘flip’ form factor, there’s no better choice than the Galaxy Z Flip 4.
Huawei Mate X3 | Moving back to the horizontal folding smartphones and next up we have the first non-Android, 4G foldable smartphone on our list. While the Mate X3 might be lacking on the software front, it certainly makes up for it in terms of hardware. It is also worth noting that the Chinese version of the Mate X3 is equipped with a Silicon-carbon battery, while the device also supports satellite messaging. However, the one downfall on the Mate X3 is the lack of 5G support and access to Google Services.
Vivo X Flip | The Vivo X Flip recently made its debut as the first clamshell folding smartphone by the brand. The flip phone is currently only available in China and there’s no confirmation about its launch outside the country. However, the Vivo X Flip does arrive with a flagship specs sheet, including cameras co-engineered with ZEISS. The phone also has one of the largest cover screens on a flip smartphone and brings a ton of utility with Vivo partnering with several developers to bring more app support for the cover display.
Xiaomi Mix Fold 2 | The Xiaomi Mix Fold 2 is the second foldable smartphone from the brand and features a slightly larger display when unfolded as compared to other devices on our list. The Mix Fold 2 also features all the aspects of a flagship foldable smartphone, including a top-tier chipset, vibrant displays, and a camera setup co-developed with experts Leica.
Oppo Find N2 Flip | The Oppo Find N2 Flip is the last vertical folding smartphone on our list. The Find N2 Flip is a more accessible smartphone, available for purchase in India, globally, and in China. Moreover, the Find N2 Flip has all the makings of a flagship smartphone with a sizeable battery for a flip smartphone. Additionally, the phone features a large cover display and a dual-rear camera setup fine tuned by Hasselblad. On balance, the Find N2 Flip is a solid flip phone that is as close as a flagship as you’ll ever get with the flip form factor.
