Asus ROG Phone 7D and 7D Ultimate Launch Timeline Leaked: Gaming Smartphones With Dimensity 9200+ SoC?

Asus recently launched the Asus ROG Phone 7 series in multiple markets outside China. The ROG Phone 7 and ROG Phone 7 Ultimate are powered by a Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 SoC. It appears Asus may offer two more gaming smartphones that are powered by a flagship-grade Dimensity chipset.

Smartphones in the Asus ROG Phone 7 series are currently one of the best options for mobile gaming. However, rumors indicate the Taiwan-based tech company will launch the ROG Phone 7D and ROG Phone 7D Ultimate this year. Perhaps the “D” in the name stands for Dimensity.

When Will ASUS ROG Phone 7D Series Launch?

It is important to note that Asus hasn’t acknowledged the existence of the ASUS ROG Phone 7D Series, let alone tease the specifications. The collated information relies mainly upon rumors and leaks.

The ASUS ROG Phone 7D series might launch by August 2023. Just like the Asus ROG Phone 7 series, even the ROG 7D series is tipped to include two smartphones. The latest leak about these devices claims the ROG Phone 7D is internally codenamed AI2301_A and AI2301_C. The ROG Phone 7D Ultimate, on the other hand, is referred to as AI2301_B and AI2301_D.

The Asus ROG 7D series may launch in China and remain exclusive to the market for a few weeks before launching in other international markets. Asus may launch the ROG 7D series smartphones outside China in the final quarter of 2023.

Asus ROG Phone 7D and 7D Ultimate Key Specs Leaked

The Asus ROG Phone 7 and Asus ROG Phone 7 Ultimate are powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 SoC. The Asus ROG Phone 7D and ROG 7D Ultimate are tipped to be powered by a MediaTek Dimensity 9000+ series SoC.

The exact chipset powering the ROG 7D series smartphones isn’t known. However, MediaTek’s top-end chipset is the MediaTek Dimensity 9200+ SoC. This chipset could be embedded inside the ROG 7D devices.

Regardless of the 9000+ chipset, the Asus ROG Phone 7D and 7D Ultimate may feature up to 16GB of RAM and 512GB of internal storage, claims the latest leak.

The rest of the specifications of the Asus ROG Phone 7D and ROG 7D Ultimate aren’t known, but the leak suggests Asus might reuse most of the hardware that’s used to make the Asus ROG Phone 7 and Asus ROG Phone 7 Ultimate.

If the leak is true, The ROG Phone 7D series would feature a 6.78-inch Full HD+ AMOLED display with a 2448 x 1080-pixel resolution with a 165Hz refresh rate, 720Hz touch sampling rate, and peak brightness of 1500nits. The display would have a layer of Corning Gorilla Glass Victus.

The Asus ROG Phone 7D series may pack a 6000mAh battery and support 65W wired fast charging. The ROG Phone 7D series is likely to feature two USB Type-C ports, one of which would be used for attaching accessories.
Just like the Asus ROG Phone 7 series, the ROG 7D series smartphones would feature a triple-camera setup on the back, headlined by a 50MP Sony IMX766 main camera sensor, and accompanied by a 13MP ultra-wide camera and a 5MP macro shooter.
