Motorola has started teasing its upcoming premium, clamshell-style foldable Android smartphone. The Lenovo-owned brand hasn’t announced the name yet, but the device could be called the Moto Razr+ 2023.

Although the brand has not revealed the launch date of the smartphone yet, Motorola has posted a teaser, which suggests it has a large external display and a higher refresh rate. The smartphone teased in the poster has a vertical folding design.

Regardless of the name, a mystery Motorola smartphone recently surfaced on India’s BIS certification website, bearing the model number XT2321-1. Thereafter the same device was spotted on Geekbench. Several reports suggest this device could launch under the Moto Razr+ series.

A Motorola smartphone recently appeared on the TDRA and REL certification sites, with the monikers Motorola Razr 40 Ultra and Razr+ 2023. They were listed with the model numbers Motorola XT2321-3 and Motorola XT2321-1, indicating that a similar-spec’d device may debut with different names in different markets.

Previous rumors about the Moto Razr+ 2023 suggest the smartphone may retain the 6.7-inch foldable OLED panel on the inside from the Moto Razr 2022. The display could have a refresh rate of 144Hz and a Full HD+ resolution.

The teaser poster for the clamshell-style foldable smartphone indicates it will have a large outer cover display. Some reports claim the upcoming Motorola smartphone could sport a screen that’s even bigger than that of the Oppo Find N2 Flip. The outer display is tipped to be 2.7 inches in size and has a 573 x 800 pixels resolution.

An octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 SoC may power the Moto Razr+ 2023, which could be paired with 12GB of RAM and 512GB of internal storage. The Motorola Razr+ may have a side-mounted fingerprint scanner and run Android 13 OS out of the box.
