The Google Pixel 8 will get a smaller display this year, according to a display analyst. Meanwhile, the Pixel 8 Pro’s display will remain unchanged. Both displays will likely be manufactured by Samsung Display.
The new Google Pixel 8 will reportedly be showcased at this year’s Google I/O developer conference. Previously, CAD renders of the upcoming smartphone surfaced online, revealing an updated camera layout.

Google Pixel 8 Series Display
DSCC’s (Display Supply Chain Consultants) Ross Young states that the Google Pixel 8 will feature a smaller display panel measuring 6.16 inches. To compare, the Google Pixel 7 has a display size of 6.32 inches.
Meanwhile, the panel size of the Google Pixel Pro will remain the same as the Pixel 7 Pro at 6.7 inches. Young adds that panel manufacturing will commence from May 2023. It is reported that the Google Pixel 8 series will feature panels produced by Samsung Display.
Google Pixel 8 Series Launch Timeline
The new Google Pixel 8 series is expected to debut later this year in October. But before that, Google might offer a preview of the upcoming Pixel 8 lineup at the 2023 Google I/O conference which is scheduled for May 10.
Apart from the Google Pixel 8 series, the tech giant will likely showcase the Pixel 7a, the Pixel Tablet, and the Pixel Fold at this year’s developer conference.
Google Pixel 8 Series Rumored Features
According to rumors, the Google Pixel 8 could feature a display with a Full HD+ resolution. Meanwhile, the Pixel 8 Pro could get a QHD+ panel with a refresh rate of 120Hz. Both smartphones are likely to get in-display fingerprint scanners and Gorilla Glass Victus for protection.
The Google Pixel 8 and Pixel 8 Pro will reportedly be powered by a new Tensor G3 processor. The chipset is said to be manufactured on a 4nm process. Additionally, the upcoming Pixel 8 Pro is said to feature an improved camera system with staggered HDR.
