Vivo is gearing up to unveil two new foldable smartphones in China. The Vivo X Fold 2 and Vivo X Flip are have been extensively leaked over the past couple of months. Now, it appears that Vivo’s upcoming foldables have got an official launch date in China.

The Chines tipster Panda is Bald recently shared an image on Weibo, revealing the Vivo X Fold 2 and Vivo X Flip launch date as April 20 at 07:00 pm (local time). Apart from Vivo’s upcoming foldable smartphones, we are also expected to see the Vivo Pad 2 at the event. Now, let’s take a look at the upcoming Vivo foldable smartphones.

Vivo X Fold 2 Specifications (Expected)

The Vivo X Fold 2 is arguably one of the most leaked smartphones in recent weeks. Vivo’s third generation foldable smartphone is rumoured to be powered by the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 SoC paired with LPDDR5X RAM and UFS 4.0 storage. Vivo’s upcoming horizaontal folding smartphone is also expected to feature the company’s new V2 image signal processor (ISP), first incorporated on the Vivo X90 series.

The Vivo X Fold 2 is also expected to sport an 8.03-inch E6 AMOLED screen on the inside with a 120Hz refresh rate and a resolution of 2160 x 1916 pixels. Additionally, Vivo foldable smartphone will also use another E6 AMOELD panel for the cover screen with a 6.53-inch screen size and 120Hz refresh rate. The Vivo X Fold 2 will also use an under-display fingerprint reader.

The Vivo X Fold 2 could pack a 4,800 mAh battery with 120W wired fast charging support and 50W wireless fast charging. The Vivo X Fold 2 will likely feature a 50 MP quad-camera setup on the back that consists of a main, ultrawide, telephoto, and a periscope unit. The phone is also expected to have two 16 MP selfie cameras on the inner and cover displays.

Vivo X Flip Specifications (Expected)

The Vivo X Flip will debut as the first clamshell foldable smartphone by the company. The Vivo X Flip is expected to be powered by the Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 SoC. The chip will be paired with up to 12GB of LPDDR5 RAM and up to 512GB of UFS 3.1 storage. The Vivo X Flip could also sport a 4,400 mAh battery with 44W wired fast charging support.

The vertical folding smartphone could also sport a tall 6.8-inch foldable OLED screen with an FHD+ resolution and a 120Hz refresh rate. The phone is also expected to have a large rectangular cover screen on the back. For optics, the new Vivo foldable smartphone opts for a 50 MP primary sensor and a 12 MP ultrawide lens.
